Dallas natives Michael Alves (bass) and Joe Elwood (drums) joined forces with ex-<a href="/artists/az/slobberbone/artist.jhtml" class="article-artistlink">Slobberbone</a> guitarist <a href="/artists/az/hill_michael/artist.jhtml" class="article-artistlink">Michael Hill</a> in the summer of 1997 to form the alternative country-rock group 12Lb. Test. Guitarist Jake Williams, also of Dallas, joined a year later, followed by drummer Steve Hill, who replaced Elwood in the fall of 1999. Since its inception, the band has maintained a steady schedule of appearances, performing at live music venues throughout the state of Texas and creating their unique brand of straight-up, gimmick-free, guitar-driven, pop-laced rock & roll.
