Not to be confused with the other two black metal acts sharing the name, Austria's Alastor came to be in 1995 -- albeit under a different name or two before settling after 2000. The membership of the band changed over the years, but the band maintained a fairly healthy output. As with most extreme metal bands, Alastor made their debut demos available to the underground Austrian metal scene, and received enough positive attention that a deal with No Colours was soon signed. Their debut for the label, 2006's Silva Nordica, was followed in 2008 with their critically well-received black metal opus, Noble North. ~ Chris True, Rovi
