Atakhama

Heavily influenced by borderline death/black metal bands such as Poland's Behemoth, Norway's Zyklon, and, earlier still, Americans Morbid Angel, Atakhama was founded in 2004, when Jyväskylä, Finland natives Simo Rahikainen (guitar), J-V Hintikka (guitar), Matti Honkonen (bass), and drummer Timo Häkkinen decided their current band, Funeris Nocturnum, had run its course. Seeking a fresh start to go with their new direction, they joined forces with vocalist Jimmy Salmi and signed with Woodcut Records, issuing their debut album, Existence Indifferent, in the black/death metal hybrid style in April 2005. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
