With the death of Caridad Cuervo, in December 1998, Cuba's lost one of its best-loved vocalists. A prodigy of influential Cuban songstress Celia Cruz, Cuervo had attracted international attention as a featured vocalist at the Tropicana Club in Havana during the 1950s and early-60s.
