A former marketing manager for a Fortune 500 company, comedian Scott Dunn dropped out of a safe, lucrative job to follow his dream and hit the standup club circuit. As daring and oddball as this was, the inspiration came in an even stranger place: church. Figuring that people would listen to the sermons if they were entertaining, Dunn chased this idea to its logical conclusion and wrote a bit where the Last Supper turned into a Friar's Club affair with the 12 Apostles roasting Jesus Christ. Nationally syndicated radio hosts Bob & Tom loved the bit and made the comedian a regular guest on their show. Dunn kept this reimagining of historical events thing going, coming up with bits like Abe Lincoln's wake and the Founding Fathers' roast of George Washington. In 2001 he co-wrote the college-themed novel The Big Cookie with Tim Matthew, and then in 2004 his "Roasting Jesus" bit landed on Bob & Tom's Camel Toe CD. That same year his second novel, Through the Turn (where a Harley-riding dropout gets spiritual guidance from a minor-league baseball mascot), was released. By then Dunn was dividing his time between radio appearances, live club gigs, and writing for television shows like Foxworthy's Big Night Out and CMT's Comedy Stage. Jeff Foxworthy was so impressed with his work the star brought Dunn on as consultant for the hit television series Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, which premiered in 2007. A year later he released his debut comedy CD, Absolutely Historical, on the Warner Bros. Nashville label. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
