Another side project of the confusing world that revolves around Damien Youth, Kyte is the duo of Damien Youth and Robyn Nice. The confusion? Well, they bill themselves as the Kyte Brothers, Archie and Scott Kyte, on this release. Also, the pair has recorded together as both the Surprise Symphony and Magic Island. The difference here is that Damien Youth takes the lead vocals, instead of Robyn Nice, who did the vocals for the Surprise Symphony and Magic Island. Whatever, Kyte's self-titled 1998 album is pleasing, haunting 1990s psychedelia with heavy echoes of Donovan and Pink Floyd, and understandable similarities to the Surprise Symphony and Magic Island projects. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
