Shelly Lares

Singer/songwriter/ musician Shelly Lares (born Michell Yvette) is one of the major performers on the Tejano music scene and is much loved for her talent and charismatic stage presence and strong voice. Lares writes or co-writes all of her own songs, and is also a talented guitarist and percussionist. She is much loved in the southwest and has been nominated for awards at the prestigious Tejano Music Awards every year since the mid-'80s. Lares has also received many other honors.

Lares records for Manny Music and since 1990 has had several albums that include Tu Solo Tu (1989), Tejano Star (1992) and Apaga La Luz (1993). Lares frequently appears at rodeos, state fairs, and music festivals. When not recording or performing, she is active in community and charitable work.
