Miguel

Singer, songwriter, and producer Miguel spent a handful of years behind the scenes, helping to create hits for others before he released his own hit single, "All I Want Is You," in 2010. Born Miguel Jontel Pimentel in Los Angeles, CA, Miguel worked on various projects for smaller labels and underground hip-hop artists like J Dilla and Exile, sometimes using the name Jontel. In 2007 he was called up to the big leagues by the Jive label, and a year later would be contributing his songwriting skills to Usher's album Here I Stand. Work for Asher Roth (2009's Asleep in the Bread Aisle) and more work for Usher (2010's Raymond v. Raymond) would follow along with Miguel's 2010 mixtape, Mischief. With its title track doubling as its lead single, his All I Want Is You album landed that same year. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
