Weaving a tapestry of float-away guitar sounds with Eastern melodies and languid, intimate vocals, Boston band Quilt lay out a modern take on psychedelic folk. Founding members and singer/guitarist/banjo players Shane Butler and Anna Rochinski met while attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and formed the band over a shared love of music, Butler coming from a spiritual background that included lots of musical chanting and Rochinski offering a background of classical choir singing. Taylor McVay later joined as drummer/singer and in 2009 the band debuted with a self-titled cassette, followed a year later by the 7" Agents of Play. Quilt teased their full-length debut with a single for the Burger label in spring 2011, with the real deal arriving that fall on Mexican Summer, showcasing the band at its freest and most fully realized. ~ Chrysta Cherrie, Rovi
