New York's critically acclaimed group, The Rapture have announced the September 12th release of their new CD, Pieces of the People We Love, on Universal Motown Records. Produced by Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson and Danger Mouse, the album's first single, "Get Myself Into It," has already earned praise from Rolling Stone Magazine's editor's "Hot List" as "a horn-and-percussion-propelled party starter" and July 18th's Pick of the Day as "a tight, cowbell and sax-laced party anthem that takes the band's cock-eyed disco to new heights." In addition, in the same issue, the track received a three-and-a-half-star review as the "...expansive, thumping first single..." and "...marks a welcome return to club-shaking catchiness." Pitchfork also gave two 4-star reviews to singles "Whoo! Alright-Yeah...Uh Huh" and "Get Myself Into It," saying, "If and when [The Rapture] progress to late-80s heavy metal, they'll still somehow sound trendier and more ahead of the curve than their dance punk contemporaries." "Get Myself Into It" was also the #1 most played song on XFM last week in the UK, landed Music Week's Song of the Week this week and will appear on the best-selling Madden NFL 2007 video game that releases on August 22nd. Recorded in New York and Los Angeles, signature tracks also include, "The Devil," "Calling Me" and "First Gear." Pieces of the People We Love is the long-awaited follow-up to the band's ground-breaking 2003 debut, "Echoes," which earned them unanimous critical support; The New York Times labeled their music "a jittery, wildly electric fusion of punk and disco, of retro and modern, of perfect pop and freak-out jam."
