The Temptations and the Jackson 5 are among this year's inductees into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and Museum. They'll be inducted into the hall Oct. 20 in a ceremony in Sharon,
Destiny's Child have recorded the theme song for the upcoming "Charlie's Angels" movie, according to their manager, Matthew Knowles. "Independent Woman, Pt. 1" will be released as a single in September, and it will appear along with "Independent Woman, Pt. 2" on the vocal group's next album, tentatively set for a February release. ... As singer Erykah Badu works on her next album, her previous releases are still getting noticed. Baduizm, her 1997 debut, was awarded triple-platinum certification in June, and the follow-up, Live, was certified double-platinum. ... Singer Macy Gray was named Best New Artist at the L.A. Weekly Music Awards on June 29. Gray's 1999 debut, On How Life Is, has sold more than 2 million copies. ... Soul artists D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige, Sisqó, Destiny's Child and Jagged Edge will vie for the R&B Artist of the Year honor at the Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2000. The ceremony will be held Aug. 22 in Pasadena, Calif. ... R&B singer Mya, who released her second album, Fear of Flying, in April, will appear on a Monday (July 10) episode of "Farmclub.com" on the USA network. Also appearing are rap artists Eminem and Nelly and rockers 3 Doors Down. ... Rhino Records will reissue remastered versions of the late Curtis Mayfield's first two solo albums. Curtis and Curtis/Live! are tentatively set for an Aug. 15 release. ... Much like her mentor, Erykah Badu, singer N'Dambi quickly will follow her debut album with a live set. She will release Studio Sessions Volume One: Tuning Up and Cosigning in the fall. ... R&B singer R. Kelly has set an Oct. 24 release date for his fifth album, TP-2.COM. Kelly will release the first single from the album, "I Wish," on Aug. 14. ... Singer Whitney Houston's The Greatest Hits collection has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The two-disc set, released May 16, includes the single "Same Script, Different Cast," a duet with Deborah Cox. ... Former Jodeci members K-Ci & JoJo, who are joining Gerald Levert and Kevon Edmonds on the bill for the SoulFest 2000 tour, which began July 1 in Memphis, Tenn., are working on their third album, which they hope to have out by the end of the year. ... Singer Kenny Lattimore is working on the follow-up to his 1997 self-titled debut album, which featured the singles "For You" and "Never too Busy." He's recording the album at Bob Marley Recording Studio in Jamaica. ... The songs from R&B singer Jennifer Walker's debut album, Jennifer, recently were posted on the music Web site PlayJ.com. "Y U Callin' Me" and "To My Home Girls" are the first two singles from the album, which was released March 23. ...
