Angeles trio Somethin' for the People will release their third album, Issues. The threesome previously found success in 1997, when "My Love Is the Shhh!" topped the Billboard R&B singles chart for three weeks.

The group uses the album's "Now U Wanna" (RealAudio excerpt) to respond to TLC's hit song "No Scrubs," which criticized irresponsible men. The Somethin' for the People rejoinder disses a woman "because she's superficial," according to group member Cat Daddy. "If you take the time to get to know a person, it wouldn't matter what monetary value they have."

The album also includes their current single, "Bitch With No Man," which peaked at #39 and currently is at #54 on the Bilboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart after five weeks. Eric Bené makes a guest appearance on "I Apologize."

Former Brownstone member Kina will release her self-titled solo debut album. "Girl from the Gutter" (RealAudio excerpt), the album's first single, blends acoustic guitar, the singer's powerful voice and angry lyrics: "I hope your hell is filled with magazines/ And on every page you see a big picture of me."

Kina had joined the Los Angeles group for the release of their second album, Still Climbing. She had been working on her solo debut since last year, with producer London Jones.

Veteran singer Will Downing will release All the Man You Need, his first album since 1998's Pleasures of the Night, which he recorded with fellow crooner Gerald Albright.

Downing, who worked for years as a session singer in the '70s and '80s, made his solo debut in 1988 with a lyrical version of John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" (RealAudio excerpt of Downing's version). Since then, his smooth voice and romantic themes have marked a string of solo albums.
