But the big news of the week belongs to singer Sarah Brightman, whose La Luna debuts at #16 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and also captures the #1 position on the Top Classical Crossover chart. The album features a collection of classical and pop songs, including Song of the Moon from Dvorák's opera Rusalka.

Meanwhile, the collection of scenes from operas of Richard Wagner by Deborah Voigt and Plácido Domingo re-entered this week's Top Classical albums chart at #11. The set features the opening duet from the third act of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, "Descend Oh Night" (RealAudio excerpt).

In addition to the ongoing success of Appalachian Journey, Ma's Simply Baroque II follows that album at #2, and his earlier Simply Baroque is at #6. The new CD is a collection of Bach chorale transcriptions performed with Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Ensemble. Selections include the famous Sleepers Awake!
