EMINEM: NOT DOWN WITH THE CLOWN

It seems only reasonable that if you've just sold 1.8 million copies of your second album, you might go a little nuts. Michigan police are still counting the charges that have been mounting since Detroit's favorite son, Eminem, went on his

weekend rampage. The latest allegations involve Eminem's altercation with a member of Insane Clown Posse's posse in a Mickey Schorr car audio store.

"We are confident that the charges will be favorably resolved as soon as possible," said a spokesperson for Eminem's label, Interscope.

According to Oakland County chief deputy prosecutor John O'Brien, Eminem is alleged to have been involved in an argument with Douglas Dail, an employee of Insane Clown Posse's Psychopathic Records at the store in Royal Oak, Mich.

Dail supposedly called Eminem "gay" as the rapper got out of his car in front of the store with his wife. Eminem allegedly became so enraged that he accidentally dropped the 9mm pistol he was carrying, picked it up, and then pointed it at the ground while he traded insults with Dail. Eminem had applied for a permit to carry the weapon, but it had not been approved as of the date of the incident.

So Eminem was once again in a Michigan district court on Thursday, June 8 being interviewed, booked, and arraigned on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm in public. The concealed-weapon charge carries a maximum jail term of five years if he is found guilty. Eminem already faces assault and weapons charges after allegedly becoming involved in a brawl involving his wife and another man at a Detroit nightspot on Sunday morning.

A warrant was issued for Eminem's arrest on Thursday morning on the charges. He surrendered to the authorities on Thursday afternoon. However, prosecutors said that a complaint was filed on the day of the incident. Dail has been referred to as a "reluctant witness." Eminem is not accused of threatening Dail with the weapon, and he was released on a $10,000 bail bond.

There's no love lost between the chart-topping Eminem and the bargain-bin-filling Insane Clown Posse. On one of their records, the ICP dubbed Eminem "Slim Anus." On Marshall Mathers' skit "Ken Kaniff," a person enjoys fellatio administered by the ICP's Shaggy 2 Dope. MTV's Kurt Loder, a man not easily ruffled, described it as "one of the vilest things ever committed to record."

On the track "Marshall Mathers" from his new album, Eminem also declares, "I was put here to put fear/ In faggots who spray Faygo root beer/ And call themselves clowns cuz they look queer/ Faggy 2 Dope and Silent Gay/ Claimin' Detroit, when y'all live 20 miles away."

Eminem has since been ordered by a judge to surrender to the police any guns he might have in his Sterling Heights estate outside of Detroit. He also must provide an itinerary of the Up in Smoke tour to police and prosecutors and keep them notified of where he is staying while he is outside the state of Michigan.

Although Eminem had previously been free to join the Up in Smoke tour, which will feature Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Warren G, when it kicks off June 15 in Chula Vista, Calif., he now faces a conflicting court appearance when the tour comes to Michigan. Eminem has to be in court for a preliminary hearing on July 7, the same day he's due to rock the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Kid Rock has come to Eminem's defense on the earlier charges of threatening his wife and another man with a gun. "He's all right, man," Rock insisted. "I'd have f*ckin' pulled a gun if someone was kissing my wife, too. I'd have shot 'em. Luckily he didn't, but I would have popped their ass. That's f*cked up, man. I don't know the story. I wasn't there. If what they're saying is true, I'd have shot 'em."

Rock's DJ Uncle Kracker heated things up by dismissing the ICP as "idiots. Not idiots because they've obviously sold some records [but] on what they were doing ... If somebody went up to them and said, 'You suck,' they'd be like, 'We suck and we know we suck. That's why we're doing it, Because we suck.'"

Just make sure you roll the windows up when you're driving through Detroit.
