Pearl Jam have completed sessions for their still-untitled seventh studio album, according to the group's official Web site. The mixing of the record is expected to begin soon, although a release date has not yet been announced.
The album was
co-produced by the band and Adam Kasper, who helped engineer their 1994 album, Vitalogy. The band is expected to tour, though dates have yet to be disclosed. They entered the studio in February to begin work on this latest release, which follows the flood of 75 live albums they unleashed last year.
Pearl Jam unveiled two new songs at last fall's Bridge School Benefit shows, "I Am Mine" and "Last Soldier" (see "Matthews, Pearl Jam, R.E.M. Give Peace A Chance At Bridge School"). A spokesperson for the band said it is unknown if those two songs made the cut.
Meanwhile, lead singer Eddie Vedder has kept busy. He inducted the Ramones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (see "Vedder Rambles, Green Day Scramble As Ramones Enter Hall") and jumped on stage with pal Neil Finn in March. Drummer Matt Cameron can currently be heard jamming with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Saliva singer Josey Scott on the "Spider-Man" soundtrack song "Hero" (see "Nickelback, Saliva, Pearl Jam Members Make 'Hero' Sandwich For Spidey").
An album of rarities, B-sides and outtakes was tentatively scheduled for release at the end of this year, although its status, too, is currently unknown (see "Pearl Jam Working On New Album, Planning Release Of Rarities").
