Australia and New Zealand from January 17 to February 2, according to organizers. All have or will have released new albums in the year leading up to the tour, with the exception of Deftones, who continue to work on the follow-up to 2000's White Pony. The band is expected to preview new material, however.

Although Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl appears on Queens of the Stone Age's latest album, Songs for the Deaf, and played with the surging quintet on their last tour, the Queens will stick with their current skinsman, Joey Castillo, for the BDO trek (see "Queens Of The Stone Age Fine With Their Revolving Court").

PJ Harvey, pioneering electronic group Kraftwerk, techno DJ Luke Slater, electronic art-rock trio Chicks on Speed, and Scandinavian punks Millencolin are also on board to perform.

Down Under exports the Vines lead the charge of local artists set to show at BDO, which include the Living End, Pacifier, Rocket Science, 28 Days, Frenzal Rhomb, Bexta, the Hard-Ons, 1200 Technique and Resin Dogs.

Additions to the lineup are expected.

System of a Down, Alien Ant Farm, Silverchair, Garbage and New Order were among the groups that graced Big Day Out stages last year.

Big Day Out tour dates, according to organizers:

  • 1/17 - Auckland, New Zealand @ Ericcson Stadium

  • 1/19 - Gold Coast, Australia @ Parklands

  • 1/25 - Sydney, Australia @ Olympic Park Showgrounds

  • 1/27 - Melbourne, Australia @ Royal Melbourne Showgrounds

  • 1/31 - Adelaide, Australia @ RA&HS Showgrounds

  • 2/2 - Perth, Australia @ Claremont Showgrounds
