Kelly Osbourne has named her debut album and new single after two of her favorite words: "Shut Up."
But don't expect to hear the same bitter teenager portrayed on "The Osbournes." A spokesperson for Kelly's record label described the album as
"a lot of fun," similar to her cover of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" (see "Kelly Osbourne's Ready For Her Closeup With 'Papa Don't Preach' Video").
The video for "Shut Up," shot October 11 in Los Angeles, could also be called fun, although it tackles a serious issue facing recording artists: bootlegging.
Directed by Evan Bernard (Green Day, Beastie Boys), the clip shows Kelly and her band recording "Shut Up" as an intern at the studio secretly steals a copy of the first take. Cameras follow the recording as it is passed along, copied and e-mailed by several people before reaching an illegal street peddler and eventually a radio DJ. When Kelly leaves the studio, she flips on her car radio only to hear the song she just recorded.
Shut Up the album is due November 26. Rick Wake (Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey) produced the project.
A track list has not been finalized, according to the Epic Records spokesperson, but Kelly's Web site reports that the album opens with the dance track "Disconnected," which is guaranteed to get your "booty jigglin' like puddin'."
In other Kelly news, Ozzy's daughter will turn 18 on October 27. Only three more years until she's old enough to legally go barhopping.
