Felony assault charges against rapper Loon have been dismissed by a Beverly Hills Superior Court judge who decided there was a lack of evidence, a spokesperson for the district attorney's office said Wednesday (September 8).

protégé, whose real name is Chauncey Hawkins, and two others — William Reyes and Teon Tanqueray — were charged with felony assault stemming from the stabbing of a bouncer at the House of Blues in Los Angeles in February (see "Loon Formally Charged In Stabbing As New Details Arise"). Loon had also faced the added charges of use of a deadly weapon and use of a deadly weapon with intent to cause great bodily injury.
According to the spokesperson, neither the victim nor the eyewitness in the case could identify which of the three men initiated the stabbing. The spokesperson said that unless additional evidence or testimony surfaces, the district attorney will not be able to try the case.
"I just want to thank God first and foremost," Loon said. "My prayers were answered, I'm very grateful. The trial was very exhausting and I'm looking forward to getting back to work."
