The Foo Fighters will help get the debate party started on Wednesday when they perform in support of John Kerry in Tempe, Arizona.
Dave Grohl — who has performed acoustic sets for the Democratic candidate at rallies in Wisconsin, Iowa
and Missouri — will be joined by the rest of his band to play two free sets on October 13 at the Arizona Democratic Party's Debate Watch Party. Kerry will join the band for a celebration rally immediately after his third and final showdown with President Bush.
Grohl has performed Foo Fighters tracks including "My Hero," "Learn to Fly" and "Times Like These" for Kerry supporters on the candidate's Believe in America Tour.
Earlier this year, President Bush played the Foo Fighters' "Times Like These" at a campaign rally, prompting Grohl to speak out against what he felt was a misuse of his song. The Foo Fighters, who are currently recording their fifth album, have also expressed their disdain for Bush by contributing the track "Gas Chamber" to the Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2 compilation (see "No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Yellowcard On Rock Against Bush Vol. 2").
Though the event is free, those interested in attending must visit Kerry's Web site (www.johnkerry.com) to obtain tickets.
