Dave Grohl already counts Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme as one of his closest musical allies, having essentially joined QOTSA for their 2002 album Songs for the Deaf (a favor Homme returned by guesting on the Foos' latest, In
Your Honor). But the next time the two speak, the conversation probably won't revolve around guitar tunings — it'll probably be about diaper-changing techniques and nannies.
Because like Homme, Grohl is a rock-star daddy-to-be.
On Tuesday (January 10), a spokesperson for Grohl's label confirmed that the Foo frontman and his wife, former TV producer Jordyn Blum, are expecting their first child. Though the gender of the child was not revealed, the littlest Foo is expected this spring.
For months, rumors of a pregnancy had been circulating around various Foo fan sites, though nothing was ever confirmed. But last week, when MTV News spoke to Foo drummer Taylor Hawkins about his upcoming solo project (see "Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Gets Raw On Solo LP"), he inadvertently let the cat out of the bag, so to speak.
"We're going to be touring Europe in January and February, but we've got be home by March, because Dave and his wife are having a baby," Hawkins said. "But I probably wasn't supposed to tell you that."
Too late, dude.
Grohl joins a growing list of rock frontmen who are about to take on the role of father. Back in September, news broke that Homme and Distillers singer Brody Dalle are expecting a child of their own (see "QOTSA's Josh Homme, Brody Dalle Expecting Their First Child") and just two months later, it was confirmed that White Stripes mastermind Jack White and his wife are expecting, too (see "White Stripes' Jack White To Be A Daddy").
