UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Brandon Flowers is finally talking about something he likes. While the Killers frontman is often chided for publicly announcing what he doesn't care for, we can now add his band's new single to
"The next single is gonna be 'Read My Mind' and it's kind of our favorite song," Flowers revealed recently. "I guess our album kind of weaves in and out of different subjects and 'Read My Mind' is just holding on to the way we were raised and not letting go." The band is still deciding on a director for the video, but is set on shooting in Japan. "We don't know what it's gonna be necessarily, and I guess we should leave something to your imagination," Flowers said. "But we will be in Tokyo. On bikes." The Killers plan to film the clip sometime before January 19, when they launch a tour schedule that is packed through summer. Dates in New Zealand, Australia and Europe are announced through April 1, after which the Las Vegas foursome will return to the States. "We love playing the new songs because we played Hot Fuss for so long," Flowers said. "It was great that we got to play it so much, because it was so successful, obviously. But these new songs, you worry that they're not gonna make it or stand up next to these successful songs. And they really are. And it feels great. And it feels like we're growing and we're getting better. "I always mention playing 'When You Were Young' and then playing 'Somebody Told Me' every night, and it's great to see that they're both Killers songs and they're both powerful," he continued. "We're just happy we didn't go backwards. We feel like we're going forwards." The Killers are also developing production elements for their upcoming tour dates, but fans shouldn't expect a Kiss-like extravaganza quite yet. "You want to build your show and cause a scene, but there's something to be said about the four of us playing our songs," Flowers said. "We don't want to get lost in the confetti, but we want to have confetti. We want to show that we can play. We don't play to tracks. It's something that we're still holding on to right now. And we want to get that while we're young, show people that we can do it." This report is from MTV News. |
