debut with a raucous show at the Beacon Theatre. A New York Police Department spokesperson said that Wayne's tour bus was pulled over at around 11:30 p.m. After searching the vehicle, police arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon — a .40 caliber pistol — and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Police identified the man charged with drug possession as Brooklyn native Derrick Lawrence. It was unknown at press time what his relationship is to the rapper. Both men were awaiting an appearance before a judge at press time. According to a source close to Wayne, the rapper has a permit for the gun.

During his show on Sunday night — which featured a heavy police presence — Wayne made comments from the stage about being hassled by police prior to his set, and threatened not to perform in New York again.

A spokesperson for the rapper could not be reached for comment at press time. MTV News will have more on this story as it develops.
