Grammy-winning country act Lady Antebellum released their second album, Need You Now, at just the right time. In addition to taking the top spot on next week's Billboard 200,
thanks to sales of 481,000, the trio will likely have another strong showing next week following their performance and double win on Sunday night's 52nd annual Grammys.
Holding strong at #2 is the Hope for Haiti Now compilation, which moved another 143,000 digital copies, bringing its two-week total to more than 313,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.
Among the newcomers in the top 10: classic crooner Barry Manilow's Greatest Love Songs of All Time (#5, 57,000), Corinne Bailey Rae's The Sea (#7, 53,000) and Celtic Woman's Songs From the Heart (#9, 42,000). The rest of the top 10 are Lady Gaga's The Fame (#3, 68,000), Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream (#4, 59,000), Michael Jackson's This Is It (#6, 55,000), the 2010 Grammy Nominees compilation (#8, 45,000) and the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) (#10, 40,000).
Despite her big victories at the Grammys and the hype about her eight nominations leading up her victorious night, Taylor Swift's Fearless drops out of the top 10 for the first time since October, dipping to #13 on sales of 34,000. Ke$ha's debut, Animal, is also out of the top 10 for the first time since its #1 debut a month ago, moving eight spots down to #16 (30,000).
After a career-best #4 debut last week, Spoon's Transference dips 23 slots to #27 after sales fell off by more than 60 percent to 20,000. Sub Pop buzz-act Beach House, meanwhile, come in at #42 with the debut of their album, Teen Dream (13,000), and French singer/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg's Beck-produced IRM lands at #66 (9,000).
One of the week's steepest falls is by Motion City Soundtrack, who plummet 66 spots to #81 in week two with their major-label debut, My Dinosaur Life (7,000).
Look for a number of bands to get a post-Grammy boost next week, including the Zac Brown Band, Gaga, Swift and Beyoncé. And we'll all find out what's in store for Lil Wayne's long-delayed rock album, Rebirth, which will try to chart after being accidentally released in late 2009 and widely bootlegged in its entirety online. Also slated for release this week are Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe sequel and the debut from Nick Jonas and the Administration.
