Amy Locane's real life is playing out like a scene in the original "Melrose Place," the 1990s TV series she co-starred in. On Sunday night, the 38-year-old actress was charged with killing someone in a drunk-driving accident. The Somerset
The car's driver has serious injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital; Locane, who also had credits in "Airheads" and "Cry-Baby," was arrested at the scene and charged with a DUI. She was taken to a different hospital for treatment. The Newark Star-Ledger reports that the actress confessed to police that she'd consumed several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. The prosecutor's office says Locane was involved in a minor hit-and-run accident right before the fatal crash. According to police, she had rear-ended a car a few miles away from the fatal crash, and when the driver of the other car tried to call police, the actress got back into her SUV and drove off, "swerving and knocking down several mailboxes," the witness told police. She is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. Officers said she smelled of alcohol, and they reported that the actress' eyes were bloodshot and glassy and that her speech was slurred. If convicted, she faces five to 10 years in prison.
