Eclectic world music/jazz combo Tuatara have canceled three tour
dates of their planned 12-stop jag with Mark Lanegan and Mike
Johnson in support of their second LP, Trading With The Enemy. A
spokeswoman at their
Epic Records label said the canceled dates include
Tuesday's show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, June 19 at the Georgia
Theatre in Athens, Ga., and a June 20 date at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta.
The spokeswoman offered no explanation for the scratched dates but said that
Sunday's (June 14) performance at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., will go
on as scheduled. Some confusion regarding the future of the remaining eight
dates existed Friday as publicist Chris Jacobs of Lanegan and Johnson's Sub
Pop label indicated that he was under the impression that the entire tour had
been canceled. "It's my understanding that Tuatara canceled at least 11 dates,"
Jacobs said. "They were doing six in July and five in June. Lanegan and
Johnson will probably not tour together until the end of summer."
