The electronic dance group Meat Beat Manifesto are set to release
their new album, Actual Sounds and Voices, on Aug. 28. The album
features MBM's trademark loops and breakbeat samples as well as outtakes
from 64 hours of studio
improvisation with reed player Bennie Maupin
and synth programmer/keyboardist Pat Gleeson, both of whom were
members of Herbie Hancock's influential '70s group the
Headhunters. The first single from the album, "Acid Rain," with remixes
by Freddy Fresh and Depth Charge, hits stores on June 30.
MBM's North American tour continues with a show in Seattle's Mercer Arena on
June 18, Chicago's Riviera Theatre on June 22 and dates in Detroit, Atlanta and
Miami before wrapping up with two shows in New York's Hammerstein
Ballroom on June 29 and 30.
