British pop experimentalist Momus' next album, Stars Forever,
will now be a double album, according to Matthew Jacobson, owner of Le
Grand Magistery, the artist's U.S. label. Fans and other patrons paid
$1,000 each to have a song
written about them for the album, which was
designed to help the label pay legal fees from a lawsuit filed last year
by transsexual composer Wendy Carlos, who objected to the
Momus song "Walter Carlos." Jacobson said Momus (born Nick Currie)
had hoped to write 30 two-minute songs, but his results ended up averaging
three minutes. As a result, 40 songs will now be included on two discs
-- 30 written for people and 10 for businesses. The album is due this
summer.
