Ma$e says he's giving up music for God. ( )

Ma$e says he's quitting the music business. The rapper released a statement through his managers Tuesday (April 20) revealing plans to retire after he finishes promoting his second album, Double Up, scheduled to come out June 15.

"As of today," he wrote, "Bad Boy [Entertainment] artist Ma$e declares that he will be retiring from music to follow God, effective immediately." Karen Levy, a member of Ma$e's management team, said he will not tour to support the album but will do talk-show appearances and other promotional work. Ma$e's debut, Harlem World (1997), was certified for shipments of 3 million copies by the Recording Industry Association of America.
