Satiric singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III's upcoming
Social Studies (July 13) collects political material he's written
throughout the 1990s for the television news show "Nightline" and National
Public Radio. The disc finds
him tackling such cultural figures as O.J.
Simpson, Tonya Harding and Sen. Jesse Helms, as well as phenomena such
as the Y2K computer glitch. Wainwright -- father of singer Rufus
Wainwright -- is also filming a singing and acting role for the
upcoming Sandra Bullock movie "28 Days."
