Hartnel Henry, who MCs for reggae act Ziggy Marley and the Melody
Makers, has filed a federal brutality lawsuit against police in New
Orleans, claiming an officer abused him and broke his leg outside the
city's House of Blues in
August, the Associated Press reported.
Henry, who performs under the name Sky High, reportedly alleges
in the suit filed on Friday (Jan. 14) that he was outside the club when
two plainclothes officers told him to spread his legs and frisked him.
The suit claims that after Henry asked to see their badges, the officers
handcuffed him and a third officer, Jack Hoffman, grabbed him, dragged
him down the street, slammed him against a car and threw him against a
wall. A police spokesperson said the department had not seen the suit and
had no comment, the AP said.
