Pop-rock band Hootie and the Blowfish will receive an award for
their support of the game of golf Friday (Feb. 4) during a golf industry
banquet in Orlando, Fla. The band will be presented with the Friend of
the Game Award, according to
the International Network of Golf, which is
awarding the prize. The band was chosen in part because of its role in
building a free golf course for young players in South Carolina, according
to ING. Hootie and the Blowfish, whose most recent release was 1999's
Sad Caper, also will perform at the banquet's after-party.
