Rock heavyweights the Smashing Pumpkins and Foo Fighters will join Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace for the Summersault 2000 tour in
August.
Our Lady Peace did not announce dates but said the tour would cross Canada from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. More bands are expected to be added to the lineup.
Publicists for Foo Fighters and the Smashing Pumpkins would not comment on the tour.
Our Lady Peace also organized the four-show 1998 Summersault tour featuring Garbage, Crystal Method, Sloan and others. They released their third album, Happiness ... Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch, in September.
Foo Fighters also checked in with a new album in the fall. There is Nothing Left to Lose features such poppy rock songs as "Generator" (RealAudio excerpt) and the single "Learn to Fly."
The Smashing Pumpkins released MACHINA/the machines of God on Feb. 29. The album marks a return to their hard-rock sound and includes such tracks as "Heavy Metal Machine" (RealAudio excerpt).
Dates for the tour, co-sponsored by Our Lady Peace and House of Blues Canada, will be posted on the band's Web site (ourladypeace.com).
