NHL Boots Sean Avery For Calling Girlfriends “Sloppy Seconds”

|

Former New York Ranger Sean Avery (currently with the Dallas Stars)  has been booted indefinitely from the NHL after he made insulting and derogatory comments about his two famous ex-girlfriends, actress Elisha Cuthbert and model Rachel Hunter. Cuthbert is now dating Calgary Flames player Dion Phaneuf (Hunter is currently shacking up with a player on the L.A. Kings), and Avery decided to bash Phaneuf in his home rink, while warming up on the ice before the Stars battled the Flames. “I’m really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada,” Avery sneered. “I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about. Enjoy the game tonight.”

Avery, who interned at Vogue this summer, has an established reputation as a trouble-maker (in one game last year he waved his hands in a goalie’s face to distract him in a game, and he’s been linked to notorious madame Kristin Davis) and the NHL jumped on the chance to punish him. We imagine his sloppy seconds are thrilled with the outcome.  [Photo: WireImage]
