“The most exciting woman in the world,” Eartha Kitt, died at 81 years old on Thursday. The dancer, actress and “Santa Baby” singer had been suffering from colon cancer.
Eartha Kitt endured an unhappy childhood as a mixed-race daughter of the South, but went on to success and fortune, winning two Emmys and getting nominated for several Tony awards and two Grammys. She played sexy Catwoman in the “Batman” television series, but in recent years had become turned off by the entertainment industry.
“Generally the whole entertainment business now is bland,” she said. “It depends so much on gadgetry and flash now. You don’t have to have talent to be in the business today.”
