In the ’80s, Marilyn Manson was Brian Warner, a nerdy journalism student from Ohio. But after meeting industrial music icons like Trent Reznor and My Life With Thrill Kill Kult, Warner created a new, more aggressive identity — and an iconic look to match. By the mid-nineties, he’d turned pasty and pale into a grotesque virtue. The lipstick and contact lenses probably helped.

The Antichrist Superstar — helped by such beauties as Rose McGowan, Dita Von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood — has taken a turn for the glamorous in the last decade, spending more time in designer sunglasses and stylish threads than filth-encrusted thongs. Do you miss the dirt (or the dork)?
