Lou Ye may look like a regular happy guy in the above photo, but Lou is actually a ferocious rebel. He is set to defy authorities by entering his film Spring Fever at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival despite a ban by the Chinese government. The Chinese director was slapped with a five year ban on filmmaking after screening a Tiananmen-based love story in Cannes in 2006 without official permission.

Lou was banned from making films by the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television for his film, Summer Palace. Lou’s producer pal Nai An insisted that Lou and his associates want no trouble with their banned film. “But all we want to do is make films, we don’t want to cause any problems,” she said.
