Jackson’s Will Leaves Out Abusive Father

In the 2003 interview Living With Michael Jackson, the King of Pop opened up about how he was abused both physically and mentally throughout his entire childhood. Joe Jackson would allegedly “tear up” Michael Jackson and his brothers for even the slightest misstep during a Jackson 5 rehearsal — and Michael claimed the abuse was so severe that he’d become sick at the mere sight of his dad. So it should come as no surprise that Michael seems to have left his father with nothing in his will.

Drafted in 2002, the singer is said to be dividing his estate between his mother, his three kids (who maybe don’t even technically belong to him?), and at least one charity. Although Michael’s estate is  a whopping $500 million in debt, his assets could be significant as he still owns half of Sony’s music catalog (we’re talking the Beatles and Bob Dylan as well as Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers).

Michael’s parents both claim that he died without a valid will. With a legal battle surely on the horizon, one would think that father Joe would be on his best behavior — or at least refrain from trying to promote his record company at the BET Awards three days after Michael’s sudden death.
