Rupert Everett: Jackson’s Death Was “Fortuitous”

Rupert Everett is increasingly outspoken lately – perhaps he enjoys the spotlight, perhaps he’s trying to distract us from his new face. Whatever the case may be, sometimes he can be a bit too over the top – we like an opinion but we draw the line at speaking ill of the dead. Everett though, recently went on a tirade about Michael Jackson and while he has some valid points, we think they were better left to private conversation.

Everett recently spoke to the Daily Mirror and told them, “I think it was fortuitous that he died. He was a freak.” He continued, “He looked like a character from Shrek. He was a black to white minstrel.”

Everett also believes that if Jackson had lived long enough to perform his 50 London tour dates, the stress from those shows would have killed him. “He was supposed to be doing 50 concerts in London,” he said. “It wouldn’t have mattered how good or bad he was. He wouldn’t have managed to do all of them and the press would have destroyed him.” As much as we think some of his comments are out of line, we have to agree with him there, since even in death Jackson can’t catch a break.
