A book signing for Leona Lewis‘ autobiography at a London bookstore ended abruptly after the singer was punched in the face by a male fan without warning this afternoon. “Leona was utterly shocked and appalled as it came out of nowhere,” a source told The Sun. “The man queued up patiently, then as soon as she signed his book he smashed her in the face. He didn’t say anything to her…She was doing a three-hour signing and planned to sign hundreds of books.” Her alleged attacker was arrested at the scene.
“She was running out with her hand over her eye and I just saw a man on the floor,” an eyewitness told the BBC. “Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing, he thought it was funny.” Lewis’ representative confirmed the attack (“the police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought”) and has announced that she will not be performing on the BBC’s The One Show tonight as previously scheduled.
