Andrew Lloyd Webber, the most successful composer in Broadway history, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This news comes less than a month after he announced plans for Love Never Dies, a sequel to his most famous musical, The Phantom Of The Opera (9000 shows at the Majestic and counting!), set for 2010. “Andrew is now undergoing treatment and expects to be fully back at work before the end of the year,” said a representative. Along with undertaking Love Never Dies, Webber will soon launch a BBC series in search of the perfect Dorothy (and Toto!) to lead a revival of The Wizard Of Oz.
