Australia, where a minstrel show is prime time entertainment and a Britney Spears concert is cause for protest. Last week, an Aussie politician with nothing better to do demanded fans be warned that Ms. Spears intended to lip-sync during portions of her shows down under (“it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front”). Now a newspaper reports that hundreds of fans “stormed out” of her debut show in Perth this weekend (“I want my money back or I want her to sing properly!” shouted one alleged protester). But Brit’s backers aren’t buying it.
“”It’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard,” said promoter Paul Dainty, noting the venue received no complaints. “I’m so angry. We can take heat if there’s something wrong and people can review shows badly—that’s something you have to live with—but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication…Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it. She’s a human being. I’m embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting.” Sure hope nobody tells Chris Crocker about this!
