Carrie, Taylor Rock The Country Music Awards

As the photo of Carrie Underwood and her scantily clad back-up dancers suggests, last night’s Country Music Awards wasn’t your daddy’s Country Music Awards, though he might have enjoyed it anyway. The singer, co-hosting with Brad Praisley, wore even more ensembles than she did at the ACM Awards last April, making sure to perform an acoustic duet with Paisley to reaffirm she hasn’t gone full Britney Spears. But it was Taylor Swift who was the big winner, taking home all four of the awards she was nominated for, beating Underwood (who won the last three years) for Best Female Singer and becoming the youngest person to ever win Entertainer Of The Year. Darius Rucker took home New Artist Of The Year, reaffirming that we can’t call him Hootie anymore. The youth revolution may be a short one, though—Shania Twain and Garth Brooks are planning comebacks next year.
