Lil’ Wayne will be heading to prison tomorrow to serve a one-year sentence for felony gun possession, and even though we think no crime should go unpunished, we’re sad for the void he’ll leave in our lives for twelve months. Wayne has been busy recording The Carter IV and only just released his rock album Rebirth last week, so there won’t likely be a shortage of his music in 2010, but what of the antics we’ve grown to love? We’ve come up with a few ghosts of Lil’ Wayne’s past that we plan to revisit whenever we need of healthy dose of Dwayne Carter Jr.
- Rebirth might signify Lil’ Wayne’s foray into rock, but we will always be partial to The Carter III. Specifically, the cover. Best album art ever, we say.

- Weezy’s ESPN blog is one of the best things about sports right now. Who else can get away with lines like “Tim Tebow has a chip on his shoulder the size of a Funyon?” We also love that he’s a Red Sox fan and writes that if he was a closing pitcher, his theme song would be the once-ubiquitous Semisonic hit “Closing Time.” Who is this guy, us circa 1999? Let’s hope he has a computer in prison, we’d love some of his Winter Olympics coverage.
- Ever since the Grammys on January 31, anytime we want to feel awkward we just think back to Quentin Tarantino‘s “black-cent.” When Tarantino introduced Lil’ Wayne, Eminem and Drake, he used the most awkwardly ridiculous white-guy-trying-to-be-urban accent we’ve ever heard. Sure, Lil’ Wayne wasn’t Tarantino’s dialogue coach, but he was tangentially involved all the same. It counts!

- In prison, there won’t be a chance for Katie Couric to go bowling again with Lil’ Wayne or compliment him on his “very sparkly” teeth. Sob.
