ABC News’ report that Bill Clinton has been hospitalized for something related to his heart has the Internet acting schizophrenic. How could it not? The article’s headline (“Former President Bill Clinton Rushed to N.Y. Hospital“) implies a dire situation while the body of the article (George Stephanopoulos says it’s “likely for a stent procedure” and Hillary Clinton doesn’t seem “too concerned”) downplays imminent risk.
Either way, it’s hard not to be concerned about a 63-year-old man who had a quadruple bypass operation back in 2004. Not to mention there are additional reports saying that the former U.S. President was suffering from heart pains before he was hospitalized. We lost one of the greatest entertainers ever last year (MJ, of course). Let’s hope we don’t lose one of the greatest politicians. Stay tuned for updates.
Update from Clinton Spokesperson:
Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest. Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits and will continue to focus on the work of his foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts.
