Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes‘ marriage has reached the end of the road. One of Hollywood’s most decorated couples released a joint statement today confirming plans to divorce, saying “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement…Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
Winslet, a six-time Oscar nominee who finally won for The Reader last year, married the stage-and-screen director, who won a golden boy himself for American Beauty ten years ago, married in 2003. The pair collaborated on the film Revolutionary Road in 2008, with Winslet saying the film made her “love him more” in her Golden Globe acceptance speech. The pair have one son, 6-year-old Joe, with Winslet having another child from a previous marriage.
