On second thought, maybe Harry Connick, Jr. is better in really small doses. His montage of hilarity last night got pretty irritating pretty fast. Still, the man can sing and his and Lady Gaga’s appearances were definitely some of the more talent-showcasing guest performances of the season. We aren’t familiar with Gaga’s latest song, “Alejandro” and it’s not her best, but as always, she’s a good show. Although – is that much butt cheek typically allowed in the 9 o’clock hour? Of course the real story here is not the filler performances, it’s the fact that Casey James did not get eliminated for his poor performance, seventeen-year-old Aaron Kelly did.
Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James retreated to the stools of safety on American Idol last night, while Michael Lynche and Aaron Kelly were in the bottom two. Surprising based on the week’s performances, but we still knew Aaron wasn’t going to be THE American Idol this year. It was more shocking that Big Mike was in the bottom two – does America just hate fedoras? Is it a race thing? What? Now it still looks like a competition between Crystal and Lee, based on our stats.
4. Michael Lynche (No change from last week)
3. Casey James (+2)
2. Crystal Bowersox (No change)
1. Lee DeWyze(No change)
- We’re impressed that Harry Connick, Jr. and Jill Goodacre have been together since he was 21. We’re also ashamed that we have such a clear memory of Jill Goodacre’s guest role on Friends when she was trapped in an ATM with Chandler Bing.
- We like the dynamic of Crystal being the only female among the guys, especially during the group medley when she made her entrance during “The Lady Is A Tramp”.
