Before Twilight, RPattz Wanted To Be A Rapper Named Big Tub

Robert Pattinson (photos) probably wishes he could take back the interview he did with Top of the Pops magazine where he confessed that his childhood dream was to rap like Eminem. The interview is actually quite adorable but feature a few key points that, while thoroughly entertaining, might make life difficult for him. Allow us to break it down for you by quote:

1. First off, Pattinson says “I’ve got a whole collection of tapes of me rapping from when I was 13! I wanted to be a rapper so there are hundreds and hundreds of tapes. They’re very amusing!” Adorable anecdote, but we now fear that Robert’s garbage will be the subject of some rooting around. Hundreds of tapes of a 13-year-old Pattinson rapping? Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on those, make thousands of copies and then put them on eBay? Certainly not crazed Twilight fans, no siree.

2. Next thing we need to address is Pattinson’s rapper name. “I was obsessed with it all, though. I even had my own little crew—we called ourselves Big Tub and the Tappy Cats,” he said. Well, that seals the deal: from now only, we only refer to him as Big Tub. What ever happened to the rest of the Tappy Cats, we wonder? And was Tom Sturridge one of them??

3. The last hilarious thing Big Tub discussed was his lack of street cred and penchant for plagiarism. “Most of my rhymes were stolen off other people…They were all like, ‘I was raised on these streets’, which was a complete farce because I was actually raised in quite a nice area of London called Barnes. Not very ghetto at all!” Turns out that Pattinson, whose music appears on the Twilight soundtrack, didn’t need to steal anything after all: he’s pretty good when he’s not rapping.

We’re glad Rob ended up as a hot hot vampire, but hey, if this rapping thing had panned out, maybe he, not Jay-Z, would be Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ringtone.
