Paramore Members Spill Beans On Split With Hayley Williams

When Paramore announced founding members Josh & Zac Farro were quitting the band, the split sounded pretty graceful (“For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere”). But judging from an apparently legitimate blog post from the Farros, the good wishes aren’t totally appreciated. “I want to be honest with you guys about how this band formulated from day one,” wrote Josh. “I did not think Hayley [Williams]’s version told the whole story, at least from our perspective and hopefully this will explain a bit about why we are leaving.” Uh oh…

According to Josh, Hayley already had her own manager when she joined the group, and despite their “grass roots” promotion, Hayley was also the only one who signed their (initially secret) major label contract. “We didn’t understand why Hayley was the only one signing the contract since we were told this was a ‘band’, but we were too young to grasp all of this…what started as natural somehow morphed into a manufactured product of a major label, riding on the coattails of ‘Hayley’s dream.’” Despite the constant squabbling detailed in the post, the brothers stuck with the band for over six years, until the the end of their 2010 American tour in Orlando ten days ago. While Paramore hasn’t stopped tweeting, could this drama make Hayley Williams’ solo album come sooner rather than later?
