Courtney Love Sued Over Tweets, Quitting Twitter?

Courtney Love

Courtney Love just learned the difference between talking s— and tweeting s—. The Hole singer, who’s thrown online tantrums over everyone from Lily Allen to Edward Norton to her estranged daughter Frances Bean, is headed to court over barbs she hurled at designer Dawn Simorangkir in 2009 on social media platforms like Twitter, Myspace and even Simorangkir’s Etsy account. Love has tried to strike down the suit (filed in March 2009), but the court has decided they’ll hear whether tweets like “She has received a VAST amount of money from me over 40,000 dollars and I do not make people famous and get raped TOO!” qualify as defamation worthy of punitive fines.

Perhaps realizing she can’t play nice on the net, Love claimed she’ll abandon her Twitter feed and any other online presence. “the end.am shutting down all social media tomorrow first thing, from here on in i have NO Comment, includes FB, Just waiting to be asked!” Ironically enough, the tweet—but not her Twitter—has since been deleted. Oh, Courtney.
