Feast your terrified eyes on the first official photos of Rooney Mara in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Even if you’ve seen Mara as Erica, the girl who got away from Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Network, you probably won’t recognize her now. In an interview with W, Mara reveals how she in one “very intense” day, she had her hair butchered and her lip, ear, eyebrow, nose and nipple pierced. “I didn’t even have pierced ears. They put four holes in each ear, and, weirdly, that hurt the most,” Rooney claimed. The ears hurt the most? Excuse us while we lay down on the floor here until the wave of nausea passes.
Still in the midst of shooting, Mara joined her Social Network pals at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this weekend complete with pasty skin and reverse half-mullet. “When preparing for the role, I locked myself in a room for a week and read all three books, and decided I really wanted to be Lisbeth,” Mara explained. As anyone who’s seen the original Swedish version knows, Dragon Tattoo is definitely not a movie to see with your parents…or your kids…or alone with the lights off. As director David Fincher explained to W, his experience directing dark films like Fight Club helped him land his current gig. “Now they offer me Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. They think, No one does perv quite like this guy,” he joked. Yeah, definitely do not watch this with the lights off.
